The office of district governor carries great honor. You have been chosen by fellow Rotarians throughout your district to serve as their leader and an officer of Rotary International. You were selected on the basis of your leadership ability, knowledge of your district, and your commitment to Rotary. Along with this honor comes a corresponding degree of responsibility.

The success of Rotary International depends largely on the success of its member clubs. The district governor is in a unique position to sustain Rotary International’s success by fostering success at the club level. Your achievements as district governor depend on the time, effort, and commitment you put into your year as governor-elect. You now have the opportunity to lay the groundwork for a productive and successful term as district governor by developing clear ideas and goals, carefully planning your actions for the coming year, and maintaining a positive attitude.

As district governor, you are responsible for overseeing the clubs in your district. You will work under the general supervision of the RI Board.
