Virtually all of the ideas that have been discussed here can be easily and successfully applied using modern technology such as e-mail and the Internet. Aside from being a quick and easy way to communicate with Rotarians throughout the district, it can be an effective way to establish links with Rotary clubs in other districts and to recruit new members. Here are a few suggestions for using technology to enhance communication in the district:

• Consider appointing a district technology committee or a district Web master to help distribute your monthly letters electronically and to help establish or maintain a district Web site.

Rotarians responsible for club, district, and affiliate Web sites are encouraged to link to the RI Web site, when feasible, for the benefit of those wishing to learn more about Rotary.

While current technology undoubtedly can enhance your efforts to communicate with the district, there are a few important considerations related to its use:

• The content of electronic Rotary publications must conform to the policies for all Rotary publications as set forth in the Manual of Procedure. Of particular note are those policies pertaining to Rotary mark and emblem usage and those prohibiting circularization (see chapter 10 for more information on Rotary Marks).

• Confirm that a district Web site is needed before creating a new site (it may be confusing if more than one site exists for your district).
