The district Rotary Foundation committee is made up of experienced and dedicated Rotarians who assist the district governor in carrying out Foundation business in the district. The committee serves as the liaison between the Foundation and the district’s Rotary clubs. Appointing an effective district Rotary Foundation committee is critical to your success in meeting Foundation goals.

The district Rotary Foundation committee consists of a chair and seven subcommittee chairs. The Rotary Foundation Trustees recommend that, if possible, the committee chair and subcommittee chairs be past district governors. Members should serve staggered three-year terms to provide continuity and avoid total turnover of committee membership each year. During your year as governor-elect, appoint outstanding Rotarians familiar with all aspects of The Rotary Foundation to fill any vacant positions. The Rotary Foundation staff communicates regularly with the district Rotary Foundation committee through letters, brochures, news releases, and contribution reports. To ensure that committee members receive these mailings from the beginning of their terms, the district governor should report their names and contact information to The Rotary Foundation, using the District Appointment form found in chapter 12 of this manual and on RI’s Web site (www.rotary.org). You are requested to submit this information no later than 1 March of the calendar year in which you take office as governor.

District Rotary Foundation Seminar

The district Rotary Foundation committee chair, supported by the district governor, is responsible for organizing at least one annual district Rotary Foundation seminar, targeted at club leadership. The purpose of this seminar is to disseminate Foundation information to club Rotarians. The chair should also actively support clubs in educating club members. The seminar should be informative and motivational, with the topics linked to the district’s Foundation- related goals. The fourfold purpose of the seminar is to

Foundation seminar leaders will find the District Rotary Foundation Seminar Manual (438) a useful tool. The manual includes information on designating the components of the seminar, sample agendas, and logistical considerations. It also features sections on Foundation programs and activities, including presentation notes, sample handouts, and pages that can be made into overhead transparencies. District Rotary Foundation committee chairs will receive a manual from their regional Rotary Foundation coordinator.
