As governor, you play a key role in motivating clubs to implement an active service program at the club level and, collectively, at the district level. You provide leadership to your clubs by creating an environment in the district that helps foster the development of effective projects. To do this you must have

To achieve this, you should appoint strong district RI program committees to provide a link between RI and club-level program committees. RI shares information about program resources and model projects with the district RI program committees with the expectation that it will be communicated effectively to club committees. To effectively guide clubs, the district RI program committees should be well acquainted with RI and Foundation programs and how to use them. Make sure that the district committees establish ongoing communication with their club committee counterparts.

Assistant governors can have an important role in ensuring that the clubs for which they are responsible are communicating with district RI program committees and meeting their responsibilities in regard to service projects.

As governor, you also have a variety of tools and resources to help you promote active service in the district clubs. Use your monthly letters and official visits to motivate and recognize service efforts that address community needs. The presidents-elect training seminar, district assembly, district conference, and district leadership seminar are ideal venues for club leaders to learn how to build successful service projects as well to receive recognition for their clubs’ outstanding efforts.
