丹麥哥本哈根報導──兩位參與扶輪青年服務團的演講人，在國際扶輪第97屆年會中表示，為了國際扶輪未來的生存發展，扶輪社員必須加強他們邀請扶輪青年服務團團員加入扶輪社的努力。

Copenhagen, Denmark — Rotarians need to step up their efforts to invite Rotaractors into Rotary clubs in order for Rotary International to have a viable future, two speakers involved with Rotaract said at RI's 97th annual convention.

6月13日年會第三天在哥本哈根的貝拉中心，扶青團團員賓瑟(Kristine Binser)在關鍵演說中告訴年會與會者︰「我們應該更努力鼓勵扶青團團員持續他們在扶輪的服務。否則，他們的知識、技能、與創意都會流失，而無法奉獻於本組織的永續發展。」

"More efforts should be put into encouraging Rotaractors to continue their service as part of Rotary. If not, knowledge, skills, and initiative are lost instead of contributing to sustainability in the development of the organization," Rotaractor Kristine Binzer told an audience of convention goers at Copenhagen's Bella Center on 13 June in the third day of keynote speeches.

在近140個國家約有18萬6千名團員的扶青團，乃是扶輪為18到30歲的人而設立的服務計畫。前扶青團團員葛藍倫德(Markus Granlund)說，可是問題是在扶青團團員滿30歲後，扶輪社員經常沒有邀請他們加入扶輪社。扶輪社又只能靠邀請加入。今年31歲的葛藍倫德算是一個例外。7月時，他將加入瑞典的耶特堡(Göteborg)扶輪社。

Rotaract, which has about 186,000 members in almost 140 countries, is Rotary's service program for people ages 18–30. But the problem, said former Rotaractor Markus Granlund, is that after Rotaractors turn 30, Rotarians often don't invite them into their clubs. Membership in Rotary clubs is only by invitation. Granlund, 31, is one of the exceptions. In July, he will be inducted into the Rotary Club of Göteborg, Sweden.

Their words inspired audience member Patience Uku. She and her husband, Viv, both members of the Rotary Club of Benin, Nigeria, listened to Binzer, the president of an organization that promotes Rotaract across Denmark, and Granlund, a member of the 2005–06 Rotaract Committee and founder of the Rotaract Club of Göteborg, Sweden. "When we get back, we're going to tell our club to go out and look for youths," said Patience Uku.

現年26歲的賓瑟除了扶青團之外，也談到扶輪每年遣送8千名青少年出國的青少年交換計畫。身為丹麥羅斯基爾德(Roskilde)扶青團團員的賓瑟，曾經在1996-97年度以扶輪青少年交換學生的身分到澳洲。

In addition to speaking about Rotaract, Binzer, 26, also spoke about Rotary's Youth Exchange program, which sends 8,000 young people to other countries each year. Binzer, a member of the Rotaract Club of Roskilde, Denmark, was a Rotary Youth Exchange student in Australia in 1996–97.

賓瑟說︰「擔任交換學生是一個青少年最難能可貴的體驗。你可以在融入一個新文化的同時學習語言，並學習如何適應、成熟、獲得社交技能、擴展家庭。最重要的，您可以結交新友並建立長久的友誼。無疑地，這對交換學生以及對接待家庭和接待扶輪社來說，都是一個國際瞭解的速成課程。

"Going on exchange is an experience unparallel to anything else you can do as a teenager," Binzer said. "You become a part of a new culture while learning languages, learning how to adapt, mature, acquire diplomatic skills, and extend your family. Last but not least, you make new and lasting friendships. It is, without doubt, a supreme crash course in international understanding not only for the student, but also for the host families and the hosting Rotary club."

1992-93年度以扶輪青少年交換學生身分到美國的葛藍倫德，則是談論扶輪基金會的大使獎學金計畫──全世界規模最大的私人贊助國際獎學金。這個獎學金的宗旨在增進國際瞭解，授與對象除了大學生和研究生之外，還有從事職業研究的專業人士。自1947年迄今，扶輪基金會已經頒發這項獎學金給近3萬7千人。葛藍倫德便是其中之一。他利用這份獎學金到澳洲一所大學取得國際貿易法的碩士學位。

Granlund, who was a Rotary Youth Exchange student in the United States in 1992-93, spoke about The Rotary Foundation's Ambassadorial Scholarships program, the largest privately funded international scholarship program in the world. With the goal of furthering international understanding, the scholarships are given to undergraduate and graduate students as well as qualified professionals pursuing vocational studies. Since 1947, the Foundation has awarded these scholarships to nearly 37,000 people. Granlund was one of them. He used the scholarship to get a master's degree in international trade law from a university in Australia.

葛藍倫德說︰「我感謝扶輪讓我結識許多各國專業人士與友人，也讓我更有能力與興趣瞭解其他人的生活方式。」

"I have Rotary to thank for my international network of professionals and friends as well as my better understanding and interest for other people's way of living," Granlund said.
