大久保先生的畫像懸掛於是國際扶輪世界總部17樓的阿奇•柯藍夫展示館。

Ohkubo’s portraits are installed in the Arch C. Klumph Gallery on the 17th floor of Rotary International’s World Headquarters.

今天下午非常榮幸能在此與扶輪基金會保管委員會主委戴甫靈，國際扶輪會長白義德，扶輪基金會總經理歐斯特蘭，保管委員當選人田中作次，津田先生伉儷以及其他來賓參加這個儀式。

It is my great pleasure to be here this afternoon with Chariman of the Rotary Foundation Trustees, Mr. Devlyn, Rotary International President, Mr.Boyd, General Manager of the Rotary Foundation, Mr. Osterlund, Incoming Trustee, Sakuji Tanaka, Mr. and Mrs. Tsuda, as well as my old and new Rotary friends at this gathering.

謝謝戴甫靈主委的介紹，我是第2650地區的總監大久保 昇。我負責的地區包括日本的京都，福井，滋賀，和奈良4個縣。

As Chairman Devyln kindly introduced me, I am Noboru Okubo, Governor of District 2650. My district in Japan coves four of the prefecture of central Japan – Kyoto, Fukui, Shiga and Nara.

這個扶輪年度，我們的地區以「行動」和「架橋」做為我們的要旨。在這裡向大家舉例說明：

Our district had two key words this fiscal year. “Action” and “Building Bridges” . I will give you examples:

由於我們注意到地區裏會員減少了一些，所以我們立刻採取了行動。我們在京都及福井創設了在晚上開例會的兩個新的扶輪社。我們所採的這個行動吸引了新會員。

We noticed that the members are slightly decreasing, so we took a quick ACTION. We started two new clubs in Kyoto and Fukui, which hold regular meetings at night, so we attracted new members.

1月裏，我到菲葎賓的利德島參加根除小兒痲痹等疾病計劃。由於我們努力與世界衛生組織和該地的地方政府聯係調節，我們的計劃得以大告成功。這正是「架橋」的好例子。

This January, we went to Letie Island in the Philippines for PolioPlus and Educational projects. WE coordinated with WHO and local governments. These bridges made the events very successful. This is a good example of "Building Bridges".

現在，我們的地區有5,928名會員，包括兩個新的扶輪社總共有96個扶輪社。

Now, our district has 5298 members and 96 clubs including the two new ones.

自1997年到2000年止，我擔任了第2650地區的扶輪基金委員會主委。在此期間，我極力鼓勵每一位會員捐獻扶輪基金會。多靠會員的響應，我們的地區在1999 年，2000年，和2001年的捐獻額每年超過了100萬美金，連續3年成為世界捐獻額最多的地區。

As chairman of the Rotary Foundation Committee of District 2650 from 1997 until 2000, I encouraged our members to make donations to the Rotary Foundation. And through those contributions, our district became number one in the world donors for three years running in 1999, 2000, and 2001, surpassing the yearly donation amount of one million dollars.

我個人在10年前開始對扶輪基金會感到關心，每年捐獻一些。這10年來我的捐獻累積起來得以有今天的這個機會。我很高興今天能在這裡成為阿奇・柯藍夫協會的基本會員。

I personally became interested in the rotary Foundation a decade ago, and I began to make donations each year. My own donations have accumulated over these ten years and, I am vey happy to be here today to become a member of the prestigious Arch Klumph Society.

從某一個角度來説，扶輪的力量可能有限。但是，結合扶輪基金會的財力和其他組織的人力，我們可以達成我們極具野心的計劃。比方，根除小兒痲痹等疾病計劃，提高識字，水資源的管理及衛生保健就是幾個好例子。

In some ways the power of Rotary may be limited. But, by connecting the financial power of the Rotary Foundation with the human resources of other organizations, we are able to achieve our goals with ambitious programs like PolioPlus, the literacy campaign, our water resource project and health.

我堅信扶輪基金會必須繼續不斷的致力於增加捐獻，為21世紀的世界做更進一步的貢獻。

I believe that is vital that the Rotary Foundation continue to work to increase our contributions to the world in the 21st century.

我將以第2560地區總監的身份盡力改善衆人對扶輪基金會的認識，並且鼓勵會員爲我們深具意義的運動捐獻。為了我們共同的目標，我希望能繼續和各位一起繼續努力。

As the Governor of District 2650, I will do my part by improving understanding of the Rotary Foundation, And encouraging our members to contribute to this worthwhile cause. I look forward to working with each of you to achieve our common goal.
