扶輪社員在堤佛里花園享受年會前遊園活動

Rotarians enjoy preconvention activities at Tivoli Garden..

丹麥哥本哈根報導—扶輪社員畢瑟薩(ChanBisessar)在哥本哈根一處主題樂園──堤佛里花園(Tivoli Gardens) 找到安靜的角落。她坐在長椅上看著人來人往，而旁邊就是噴泉、紫色的杜鵑花與牽牛花圃。在她四周，情侶手牽手漫步，一家人推著兒童推車，不時傳來不同的語言，還有許多人在野餐。

Copenhagen, Denmark — Rotarian Chan Bisessar has found a quiet spot at Tivoli Gardens, a Copenhagen theme park. While watching passersby, she sits on bench next to a fountain, purple rhododendrons, and a bed of petunias. Around her, couples stroll hand-in-hand, families push strollers, different languages float by, and people dine alfresco.

這位英格蘭史崔漢-大倫敦(Streatham-Greater London)扶輪社社員說︰「你可以輕鬆地在這裡消磨一天。我喜歡就這樣散步、交談、坐著、看著人來人往。」

"You could spend a day here quite easily," says the member of the Rotary Club of Streatham-Greater London, England. "I enjoy just walking, talking, sitting, and watching the people go by."

畢瑟薩是諸多購票參加「堤佛里日」活動的扶輪社員之一， 這是專為2006年國際扶輪年會出席者舉辦的活動。年會從6月11日在哥本哈根揭幕，持續到6 月14 日。

Bisessar was one of many Rotarians who bought tickets to attend Tivoli Day, an event for those attending Rotary International's 2006 Convention, which opened 11 June in Copenhagen and runs through 14 June.

While at Tivoli, Rotarians listened to a brass band, viewed fireworks, and watched the Tivoli Boys' Guard march and play instruments. Although the amusement park was still open to the public, Rotarians had a special ticket that allowed them to dine there on a fixed menu at specific hours.

參加遊園中一位扶輪社員喬治(Don Ray George)和許多人坐著等戶外舞台的芭蕾舞表演開始。身為美國德州奧斯汀(Austin)扶輪社2005-06年度社長的喬治，穿著一件看起來像是德州州旗的襯衫。他十分期待今天在貝拉中心(Bella Center)舉行的開幕典禮， 以及在年會後到挪威與瑞典旅行。

Among them was Don Ray George, who was sitting with an audience waiting for a ballet to start on an outdoor stage. George, 2005-06 president of the Rotary Club of Austin, Texas, wore a shirt made to look like a Texas flag. He was looking forward to seeing today's opening ceremony at the Bella Center convention site and traveling to Norway and Sweden after the convention.

Nearby, Chuck Ehlert, of the Rotary Club of Lambert Airport, Missouri, USA, snapped photos of the ballet. "For years I wanted to go to Tivoli," he says. "I love theme parks." After the convention, he and his wife, Carol, plan to take a cruise around the Baltic Sea.

至於畢瑟薩，她期待參加「為世界搭起橋樑午宴」(Bridging the World Luncheon)、出席跨宗教儀式、在地主招待夜與瑞典扶輪社員共進晚餐、搭巴士遊覽哥本哈根、並認識其他扶輪社員。

As for Bisessar, she was looking forward to going to the Bridging the World Luncheon, attending the interfaith service, eating dinner with a Swedish Rotarian on Host Hospitality Night, taking a bus tour of Copenhagen, and meeting other Rotarians.

英國威爾斯的天鵝海灣(Swansea Bay) 扶輪社社員寇森斯(Phill Cozens)與加拿大卑詩省夏地(Summerland)扶輪社社員布特(John Boot)，則坐在堤佛里大門外硬石餐廳裡。對他們來說，要聯誼還得等一段時間後。他們是年會中心的「水、保健、飢餓資源小組」展示攤位的工作人員，來宣導一項水計畫。寇森說︰「我們沒時間做別的事。」

Sitting at the Hard Rock Cafe just outside the main entrance to Tivoli were Phill Cozens, of the Rotary Club of Swansea Bay, Wales, and John Boot, of the Rotary Club of Summerland, British Columbia, Canada. For them, fellowship would have to wait for another time. They came to man the Water, Health, and Hunger Resource Group booth at the convention center and promote a water project. "We don't have time to do anything else," Cozens says.

At a table next to them, however, were three 2006-07 district governors who were finding time to socialize over a round of drinks. Terri Fitch of District 7950 ( Rhode Island and Massachusetts), Donna Wayman, and Billy Hobbs met at a Rotary leadership training course and have since become friends.

Fellowship aside, Hobbs, of District 7780 ( Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts), was looking forward to getting inspired by keynote speakers at the convention. And Wayman, of District 7930 ( Massachusetts and New Hampshire), is planning to attend all of the plenary sessions, which include presentations about Rotary's work. "I like learning all this to see how much Rotary does," she says.
