敬愛的RI社長Mr. William B. Boyd以及美麗的夫人，能邀請您到臺灣是我們無上的榮幸，本人和拙荊對於在聖地牙哥受訓時，您的溫文儒雅和您散發出的智慧讓我留下深刻的印象，在此期間我們透過不同類型的會議，也充分了解您「帶頭前進」的口號，以及四大工作重點，我們敬佩您的高瞻遠矚和愛心、用心，我們夫婦二人也期盼您的到訪，此時也因著您來訪給予我們無限的歡喜，在孔夫子的論語一書中提到「有朋自遠方來，不亦樂乎？」今晚，我們齊聚一堂，感受此一相同的情懷，我在此要表達本人十二萬分的歡迎之意。

Our honorable RI President, Mr. William B. Boyd and our fair lady, it's our pleasure to welcome you. During our stay in San Diego, Lynette and I are deeply impressed by your well-rounded personality and your great wisdom. We've acquainted with each other through different kinds of sessions ever since. We've fully understood what “Lead the way” means, and the four major working aspects which belong to literacy, water management, health and hunger and Family of Rotary. We really admire not only your consideration on all the Rotarian stuff but your love for those who need you. Both of us look forward to next gatherings wholeheartedly. It's time for rejoice because of your arriving. There is an old saying, “What a delight is a friend from afar,” quoted from “The Analects of Confucius.” Tonight, while we are gathering here, sharing the joy of reunion, I'd love to extend to you my warmest welcome.

  今年國際扶輪的年度主題是「帶頭前進」，我們充分了解真正帶頭前進的意義就是要用新的想法、新的觀念來引導社會朝正面發展。而做好水的管理、識字、保健防飢和重視扶輪家庭是您要求的四大工作重點，我們地區所有的扶輪社友們一定會盡全力，積極推動及參與扶輪每一項活動，用實際行動切實執行帶頭前進的主題，我們也希望您能多多給予我們指導。

As for our main theme of Rotary International this year, we’ve fully realized the meanings of “Lead the way,” and it is that we lead our society to positive development by applying new thinking and concepts. To do well on literacy, water management, health and hunger and Family of Rotary that you asked us, most of us will do our best to participate every activity. All Rotarians of our district put in action to fulfill “Lead the way.” And we hope you’d like to give us more superintendence on it.

  3520地區有82個扶輪社，約有3300位扶輪社友，今年全地區的扶輪社都設定許多目標來推動扶輪運動，地區也積極推動了許多活動，在國際服務項目中，我們捐贈了67,000套教科書給柬埔寨波貝縣的68所小學；職業服務項目中我們將規劃就業博覽會，協助500位中高齡及弱勢團體就業；社會服務項目中，也舉辦了關懷社會與關心社區的學術論壇，諸如憂鬱症與環保議題，同時在今年底，地區即將擴大舉辦萬人反毒抗愛滋大遊行，我們希望藉由這些活動的舉辦，能夠結合社會資源，真正走入社會、深入基層，來關心社會中的每一份子，讓社會大眾看到扶輪人的愛心與用心，並且讓扶輪的公益形象深植人心。

District 3520 consists of 82 Rotary clubs. The Rotarian number of our district is over 3300. All Rotarians of our district make well-meant efforts to set high goals to stimulate and motivate many Rotary activities. In our district, we actively hold lots of activities during the year. In International Service field, we’ve donated 67,000- set textbooks to 68 elementary schools in Cambodia, while in Vocational Service field, we are going to hold a vocational exposition to help 500 aged and the weak find jobs. Besides, in Society Service field, we are also going to hold activities include educational forums which involve in social and communal issues such as critical depression and some other environmental problems. At the end of the year, we are going to hold a ten-thousand-people parade that is about Anti-drugs and fighting AIDS. We hope these movements are able to associate with desired social expectation. See how our community is made better by us Rotarians, and see how we lead the way for our society development. Let love seed be planted in public by us Rotarians. All of us believe “Virtue is its own reward.” To me, Rotary is sharing. It's a movement in which people share of themselves for the help of others. That is what meant by service.
