What The Rotary Foundation means to me now and for the future

扶輪基金現在與未來對我有什麼意義

At some point in our lives we come to realize our time on this earth is finite and we cannot accomplish all we set out to do. Through The Rotary Foundation, we can marshal our efforts by leveraging an idea and our money many times over for the good of mankind. The Rotary Foundation is a wonderful vehicle to help us change and save lives and leave the world a little better place.

Rob received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Marine Transportation from the State University of New York Maritime College at Fort Schuyler.  After graduation, Rob sailed in the Merchant Marine, eventually obtaining a Masters License for ocean going vessels. Coming ashore, he worked for Bethlehem Steels’ water transportation companies rising to the position of Superintendent of Operations. He co-founded Physicians Promptcare in 1983, Baltimore’s first urgent care medical practice. He has been a business consultant and investor in various enterprises, most recently president and CEO of Venture Plastics, a plastic injection molding company.

A Rotarian since 1989, Rob is a member of the Rotary club of Towsontowne, where he was president in 1994-95.  To date he has maintained perfect attendance.

• RI Representatives to the United Nations and Other Organizations (Member, 2000-present)

• District Rotary Foundation Committee
  (Chair, 2001-03)

• UN Delegation and Diplomatic Relations Committee (Member, 2001-02)

• World Community Service Programs Task Force (Member, 2001-02) 

Today, he serves as the Rotary International Representative to the Organization of American

States.  He was a panel moderator at the last three zone institutes.  Rob has also served as a mentor for future district governors. He is the Zones 31-32 Mentor Coordinator for the class of 2004-2005.

He and his wife Eileen are Paul Harris Fellows, major donors and benefactors to the permanent fund.  Rob is past president of the Maryland Marine Club. He is on the board of directors for The Children’s Guild, a school for emotionally handicapped children. He is also a Trustee of Historic Hampton Inc., dedicated to preserving the National Park site, Hampton Mansion. His interests include historical preservation, antiques and cooking.
